What’s wrong with the 2008 Tigers? It’s clear something is missing, and I’ve been struggling to put my finger on it. Starting pitching? Of course, but almost every team could use a couple extra good arms. Bullpen? If you look at the numbers, they’ve actually been doing quite well. Home run power? RBIs? Walks? We have those in spades.
Then I started thinking about intangibles, and for some reason Chet Lemon smacked me across the face. This team could use a little Chet. Speed on the base paths. Hustle. Heart. Flip shades. Vintage throwback style. He had it all. To me, Chet was always the most underrated of the great Tiger players from the 80’s. He’s exactly the kind of player this team is missing. Turns out, Chet’s son Marcus plays in the Rangers farm system. Dombrowski, let’s see if we can swing a deal.
Oh, and getting the current Tigers fitted with those classic Pony cleats wouldn’t hurt either.

Who didn’t love Chester??? Come on Dettigers, I want some controversy. You’re letting that IngeRules character off the hook. He seems to think that the old style socks, makes an old style player. Frankly, I don’t see a lot of leadership out of #15.
If I do say so myself, I don’t see any leadership out of anyone. Who is gonna step up and unite the team? Please remember that this infield has not played together that long. Occasionally they look like they have gelled, sometimes, not so much. Lots of personalities. Not really a character to unite and define the team. Which is the point I think you are making with Chester. So who will it be??????????? Frankly, I think it has to be Guillen because Pudge ain’t gettin it done. Who is our Chester Lemon?
I could not agree more! Those Cheetos rock!! There used to be a really nice lady I worked with that used to eat them by the ton! I still question his place in that Paula Abdul video. Opposites Attract, whatever!!
